Call of Cthulu Update

I have finished the game on the 360.  Luckily, the issues I was previously dealing with were cured with a simple cache purge.  I'm now migrating it to the XBox so that I can do a proper comparison of the emulation against the real deal.

As far as the game goes...it's definitely longer than five hours if you've never played it before.  Much.  I'll let you all know when I've finished the XBox playthrough and started writing the review.

  1. So, is it playable on the 360 or do you need an XB emu?

  2. It is playable on the 360. However, you will need to clear the system cache if you can't move forward beyond a certain puzzle due to a glitch that makes an important object intangible (as far as game interactivity goes). This prevents the puzzle from being solved and you can't finish the task.

Clearing the system cache is easy, but it deletes the updates for every game you have ever played (excluding premium content). This can effect whether or not you can access save files or even premium content due to version differences, so you'll have to download that update again, whether you like it or not.

Luckily updates are small, but it gets annoying after you've done it for the fiftieth time.

  3. so essentially, you can only play DCOTE and ONLY that game in order to prevent re-updating all your games? ugh. I have Oblivion and Fallout GOTY expansions installed. I don't want to deal with that crap. It's not a big deal, it's just a deal.

  4. When I said updates, I didn't mean reinstalling premuim content :P Just the patches that you're forced to download if you already haven't. These patches upgrade your game version, which can affect save files. That's all I as saying. Sorry if I caused any distress.

And this isn't just caused by this game. Cache corruption happens. I've had it caused from XBox Originals as well as 360 titles. But, yes, it is a royal pain.
